Full description
CalMag Dutch Pro: Calcium and Magnesium Supplement for Correction and Prevention
CalMag from Dutch Pro is a specialized calcium and magnesium supplement designed for prevent and correct deficiencies of these critical secondary macronutrients. Although base nutrients contain calcium and magnesium, specific circumstances require additional supplementation. CalMag formulates this need completely with additional nitrogen to support protein synthesis without creating imbalances.
Why Calcium and Magnesium Are Critical
| Nutrient | Concentration in CalMag | Plant Function | Deficiency Symptom |
|---|---|---|---|
| Calcium (Ca) | Major proportion | Cell wall structure, cell signaling, ion transport | New leaves deformed, flowers abort, blossom end rot |
| Magnesium (Mg) | Major proportion | Center of chlorophyll molecule, enzyme cofactor, ATP transfer | Leaves yellow between veins (mottled), interveinal chlorosis |
| Nitrogen (N) | 5% | Protein synthesis, enzyme production, metabolic regulation | General lack of vigor, slow growth |
NPK Profile by CalMag
| Element | Concentration in CalMag | Technical Note |
|---|---|---|
| Nitrogen (N) | 5% | Sufficient for protein synthesis but not excessive |
| Phosphorus (P) | 0.1% | Trace for compatibility, not objective |
| Potassium (K) | 0.1% | Trace for compatibility, does not interfere with K base nutrients |
| Calcium (Ca) | Primary proportion | Soluble form, chelated for maximum availability |
| Magnesium (Mg) | Primary proportion | Optimized Ca:Mg balance (typical 5:1 to 3:1) |
Flexible Dosing Protocol
CalMag offers exceptional flexibility because it can be adjusted according to specific conditions:
Dosage Range
- Minimum (hard water, rich substrate): 0.1 mL/L - light maintenance
- Standard (medium water, normal substrate): 0.5 mL/L - recommended dose for most
- Maximum (RO water, poor substrate, flowering): 1.0 mL/L - complete correction
When to Increase to Maximum Dose
- RO or very soft water (< 50 PPM): Use 0.8-1.0 mL/L continuously
- Visual signs of deficiency: Increase to maximum dose for 2-3 weeks
- Heavy flowering (weeks 4-7): Increase to 0.7-1.0 mL/L to support flower demand
- Thermal or water stress: Magnesium is blocked under stress - increase dose during recovery
Synergy with Other Additives
- + Silica Von Liebig: Silicon improves calcium absorption, perfect complement
- +Explode: During flowering, both complement each other for maximum floral production.
- + Amino Strength: Amino acids improve Ca/Mg transport within the plant

Frequently asked questions
-
It's a specialised calcium and magnesium supplement designed to prevent and correct deficiencies in these two critical secondary macronutrients. Even though base nutrients already contain calcium and magnesium, circumstances such as RO water or poor substrates call for extra supplementation.
-
A lack of calcium shows up as deformed new leaves, aborted flowers or blossom-end rot. A magnesium deficiency causes yellowing between the leaf veins, known as interveinal chlorosis, while a nitrogen deficiency shows up as loss of vigour and slow growth.
-
The range goes from 0.1 ml per litre as light maintenance with hard water or a rich substrate, through 0.5 ml per litre as the standard dose for most cases, up to 1 ml per litre for a full correction. With RO water or very soft water, it's recommended to use 0.8 to 1 ml per litre continuously.
-
When you see visual signs of deficiency, for 2 or 3 weeks, and during heavy flowering from weeks 4 to 7, when flower demand increases. Also during recovery from heat or water stress, since magnesium uptake gets blocked under stress.
-
It provides calcium and magnesium as its primary ratio, in soluble, chelated form for maximum availability, with an optimised Ca:Mg balance. It also includes 5% nitrogen to support protein synthesis, with only trace amounts of phosphorus and potassium so it doesn't interfere with your base nutrients.
-
With Silica Von Liebig, since silicon improves calcium absorption, and with Explode during flowering to maximise flower production. Also with Amino Strength, whose amino acids improve the transport of calcium and magnesium within the plant.
