Grow tents are technical tents with a metal frame and reflective fabric that create an enclosed space where you control the light, the temperature and the humidity. They isolate the grow from the rest of the home, hold in odours when paired with a carbon filter, and make the most of every watt from the lamp thanks to the inner lining, which bounces light back to the plant.
Indoor tent models available at Grow Industry
We stock the industry's leading brands in every format. At the premium end, the Secret Jardin Dark Room R4.0 uses 25 mm steel bars able to hold light fixture, filter and ventilation without sagging. If you are after tight value for money, the Cultibox Light Plus is the classic, reliable choice. Where space is tight, the Hydro Shoot R2.0 handles a grow in a mini format, and when you want growth and flowering at the same time the Cultibox SG-Combi splits the interior into two separate compartments. For the final stage, the Mammoth Dryer 90 is designed specifically for hanging and drying the harvest under controlled conditions.
How to choose your grow tent: technical criteria
- Dimensions and height: the usual formats run from 60x60 to 120x120x200 cm and on to 240x120 rooms. Work out the height by adding pot, plant and the minimum distance to the light; coming up short on height is the most common mistake.
- Fabric density: measured in deniers. From 600D upwards the canvas is opaque and hard-wearing, whereas thin fabrics let light through the seams and come apart under weight.
- Load rating of the bars: add up the weight of the light fixture, the carbon filter and the extractor. A 16 mm frame is fine for light equipment, but a large filter calls for 25 mm bars.
- Openings and ventilation: check that it has enough sleeves for air in and out, cable routing and access to the tray. As a reference, extraction should replace the tent's volume several dozen times per hour.
Usage tips and common mistakes
Always assemble the full frame before fitting the canvas and tighten the joints well: a poorly assembled tent collapses when you hang the filter. Put the extractor at the top, since warm air rises, and the air intake at the bottom, to create a current that passes through the foliage. Keep the interior between 20 and 28 °C with the lamp on and relative humidity around 60–70 % during propagation, dropping towards 40–50 % at the end of flowering to reduce the risk of botrytis. Don't let plants touch the walls: contact with the canvas transfers heat and burns the leaves. And clean the interior between cycles with water and a mild disinfectant, because plant debris is behind most of the pests that appear "out of nowhere" in the next grow.
