• What exactly does Atami Bio Defence 1 & 2 do?

  It is a biological defence product that helps prevent larvae, harmful insects and fungi. The leaves take it up when you spray, which makes the plant less attractive to those organisms, so they tend to avoid it. It is a preventive measure, not an emergency cure.

• Why are there two bottles instead of one?

  Bio Defence is a two-component pack: the parts complement each other and are mixed together at the same time in lukewarm water. Each one has its own nutrient composition: number 1 is high in potassium oxide and number 2 also provides calcium oxide. Together they reinforce the crop's defences.

• How do I apply it correctly?

  Mix both components together in lukewarm water and spray the top and the underside of the leaves. It is worth repeating the treatment several times, about ten days apart, for the best results. Covering both sides of the leaf properly is the key.

• What dosage do I need?

  For mild problems the recommended rate is 1 ml per litre of water, that is a 1:1000 ratio. If the problem is severe, go up to 3 ml per litre (3:1000). Adjust according to what you see on your plants.

• Is it worth using if I cannot see any pests yet?

  Yes, and in fact that is its ideal use. Plants are often attacked by insects or larvae without the grower noticing until the damage is already done. Spraying as a preventive measure saves you nasty surprises later on.

• What is in it?

  It is a combination of nutrients: Bio Defence 1 contains sulphur oxide, magnesium oxide, sodium oxide, potassium oxide, phosphoric anhydride and nitrogen. Bio Defence 2 shares those elements and also adds calcium oxide. They are mineral inputs designed to defend the crop.
