• Which unit does this Cyclone replacement cartridge fit?

  It is the original replacement for the Cyclone EC fan with built-in filter, in its 100, 125 and 150 mm versions. It restores the unit's original filtering capacity without having to replace the fan, which is still working perfectly. You only renew the part that wears out.

• Why does the carbon need changing from time to time?

  Because activated carbon does not break down, it saturates. Its pores keep trapping odour molecules until they cannot take any more, and from then on the air still comes out but unfiltered. It is a consumable with a shelf life, not a part that fails.

• How do I know when it is time to change it?

  The main sign is that the smell starts being noticeable outside the tent with the fan running exactly as always. If the equipment has not changed but the smell has, the carbon is saturated. That is the most reliable warning you are going to get.

• How long does the cartridge last?

  Its indicative service life is 12 to 18 months of continuous use, and less in very humid environments. Carbon saturated with water loses capacity, so high humidity shortens its life considerably. Keeping the pre-filter clean clearly extends the life of the carbon.

• Is it complicated to replace?

  No, the change is done without tools: you take it off and swap it in a couple of minutes. You do not need to touch the fan or dismantle the ducting. It is one of the most rewarding maintenance jobs in indoor growing.

• What does it include and how good is the carbon?

  It is fitted with virgin activated carbon, with its full adsorption capacity from day one. It also comes with a fabric pre-filter that catches dust before it reaches the carbon. It is a far more economical option than replacing the whole unit.
