• What is a Method Seven camera filter for?

  Under a grow lamp any camera gives you a useless photo: HPS tints everything orange and blurple LED turns it magenta. These filters correct that colour cast and bring back the real colour, so you can document the grow and, above all, diagnose deficiencies and pests from the colour of the leaf.

• Does the same filter work with any lamp?

  No, and that is the most important point when choosing: each filter is calibrated for one specific light. An HPS filter used under a full-spectrum LED corrects nothing, so check first what lighting you have in the room.

• Which versions are available?

  Three. The HPS in Cokin P format, for sodium and metal halide, with precision German glass, Rendition Perfect Color HPS technology and an anodised aluminium ring. The blurple LED in Cokin P, with Carl Zeiss optics, for blue LED plus violet or magenta. And the HPS Catalyst XL, made for phone or tablet cameras.

• Do I need to buy anything else to mount it?

  The Cokin P models need a Cokin P filter holder, which is not included. The Catalyst XL, on the other hand, has a 52 mm lens that attaches to your phone or tablet and also to cameras with a 52 mm thread.

• Will the blurple LED filter work with a full-spectrum LED?

  No. That model is calibrated specifically for blue LED with violet or magenta, the so-called blurple, and it does not correct full spectrum. If your fixture is full spectrum, that filter is not the right one.

• Are these polarised filters?

  No, none of the three models is polarised. They are optical colour correction filters, made with precision German glass or Carl Zeiss optics depending on the model.
