• What is Atami's Cocos Substrate?

  It's a 100% natural coco fibre substrate, aged and washed, clean and free of salts and pathogens. It has a pH of 6, EC of 1.75 and 85% organic matter on dry content. It guarantees perfect aeration and oxygenation of the root system.

• How should I water to avoid salt build-up?

  At every watering, make sure 10 to 15% of the water drains out through the base of the pot. That runoff carries away the salts from the previous watering and keeps the medium clean. It's the key to keeping coco working under optimal conditions at all times.

• Do I need to check pH and EC every day?

  Yes, it's recommended to check and adjust pH and EC daily. In a coco medium, nutrition depends entirely on what you supply in the watering, so that monitoring makes all the difference. With these parameters under control, the grow progresses much more steadily.

• Can it be used pure or mixed?

  You can use it pure, mixed with soil, or in hydroponic systems. If you're after even more aeration in hydro, the manufacturer suggests mixing it with Hydro Rokz Cocos. That way you adapt the medium to the type of watering and system you're using.

• Which fertilisers work best with it?

  It's designed to be paired with Atami's B cuzz Coco A+B fertilisers. Since it's a clean medium free of salts, the plant receives exactly what you give it at every watering. That gives you very fine control over nutrition at every stage.

• Is there a risk of waterlogging?

  The natural drainage of coco fibre eliminates the risk of waterlogging in the pot. With a water-holding capacity of 9 g/g and 20% air content, the roots stay perfectly oxygenated. This lets you water efficiently and in a controlled way.
