• Why doesn't the Bluelab Truncheon need calibration?

  It's designed to not require subsequent calibration, so you can use it straight out of the box. Besides saving you time, this also spares you from having to buy calibration solutions periodically. It maintains an accuracy of ±4% on reading thanks to water temperature compensation.

• How do you read the measurement on the Truncheon?

  The reading is shown on an LED strip that lights up to the height corresponding to the measured value. You just need to put it in the water for a few minutes, until the meter reaches the temperature of the liquid, and see how far up the strip lights.

• Can it be fully submerged?

  Yes, the Truncheon is fully submerged in water, and that's precisely how it achieves more accurate measurements. It works with temperatures between 0 and 50 degrees Celsius.

• How is it turned on and off?

  It has no on or off buttons, nor any external buttons of any kind: it's one of the simplest meters on the market. It includes an auto-off function that switches it off after 8 minutes of inactivity.

• What batteries does it use and how long do they last?

  It runs on 3 AA batteries, which are already included, so you can use it as soon as you receive it. They last approximately one year, keeping maintenance to a minimum.

• Is it a durable meter for everyday use?

  Yes, it's made of very sturdy glass and designed for practical, continuous use. Since it has no buttons and doesn't require calibration, there are far fewer components that can fail over time.
