• Why do I need specific goggles to use the Cleanlight unit?

  Because UV-C radiation causes keratitis, a burn of the cornea, after very short exposures. The deceptive part is that it does not hurt at the time and the symptoms appear hours later, so the goggles are not an optional extra but a mandatory part of the protocol.

• Will ordinary sunglasses do?

  No. Conventional sunglasses do not protect against the UV-C wavelength. These goggles have a filter designed specifically for that radiation, which is exactly what you need during treatment.

• Which unit are these replacement goggles compatible with?

  They are the original replacement designed for the Cleanlight Hobby Unit. Being the original part, you are sure to keep the same level of protection as the goggles supplied as standard.

• When do I have to wear them?

  Throughout the whole treatment, from the moment you switch the lamp on until you switch it off. There is no room for taking them off for a second, because very short exposures are enough to cause damage.

• When should I replace the goggles?

  If they are scratched, warped or you have lost the original pair, the lamp should not be used until they are replaced. That is why we recommend always keeping a spare pair, so you are not left stuck halfway through a treatment.

• Are they comfortable for long sessions?

  Yes, they weigh only 36 grams, so you barely notice them. That light weight helps make sure you are not tempted to take them off when the treatment drags on.
