• What exactly does the Cornwall Electronics 7W Ozonizer do?

  It's an ozone generator designed to control odours and eliminate unwanted particles in the room where you place it. Ozone destroys odour particles instead of masking them, which is why it's so effective against tobacco smoke and other persistent smells. It also has a programmable timer so you decide when and for how long it runs.

• What room size is it suitable for?

  It's sized for small spaces: it covers rooms of up to 15 square metres, equivalent to around 30 m³ of air. If your room or drying area is larger, you're better off with a higher-output model or a duct ozonizer.

• How is it installed and where is best to place it?

  Installation couldn't be simpler: just an eyebolt to hang it about 2 metres off the ground. The small built-in fan spreads the ozone throughout the room. It's best to place it at the room door, the entrance to the house or in the hallway, so it's effective without being directly over the plants.

• How do you program the timer?

  It has three very intuitive buttons. The top one sets how often you want it to switch on, the middle one sets the running time in minutes, and the bottom one turns it on and off. This lets you leave it working unattended with whatever cycles suit you best.

• Can I leave it running continuously?

  It's not advisable. The manufacturer states it shouldn't be run 24 hours straight, to avoid burning out the element that produces the ozone, which is exactly what the three-button timer is for. Working in short cycles performs just as well and makes the unit last much longer.

• How much power does it use and what's the warranty?

  It only uses 7W, so you can run it daily without it showing on your bill. It's a very compact unit: it measures 104 x 90 x 50 mm and weighs 175 grams. It comes with a 2-year warranty.
