• What is the Proguard DXB's PCO technology?

  Photocatalytic oxidation combines ultraviolet light and a metal catalyst to generate very short-lived oxidants. Those oxidants travel out with the air and act on spores, bacteria and volatile compounds, and then break down within seconds leaving no residue.

• Does it also disinfect the walls and the trays?

  Yes, and that is its key difference compared with a filter or an enclosed UV lamp. Because the oxidants are not shut inside the unit, they also treat the walls, trays and structure of the room. In practice, PCO disinfects what never passes through the device.

• DXB Mini or DXB 100?

  The DXB Mini is designed for small rooms, large tents or compact drying areas. The DXB 100 has twice the capacity and covers medium-sized rooms or open-plan spaces. If you are right on the line between the two, the 100 will give you more headroom.

• Do I need ducting or any fixed installation?

  No. It is a standalone unit: you plug it in and it works, with no ducting and no fixed installation. That also means you can move it between rooms as you need it.

• Which consumables does it use and how often are they changed?

  There are two: the filter pack, which traps dust before the cell, and the ARC PCO cell, which is the active element. Both are available separately. Changing the filter on time hugely extends the life of the cell, which is the expensive part.

• Does it leave any residue on the crop?

  No. The oxidants it generates are very short-lived and break down within seconds leaving no residue. They act while they are needed and then disappear on their own.
