• Which models does this Pure Factory listing include?

  There are six: Fission open, EMB enclosed, Lux Plus open, Lux Plus enclosed, Pure Light V2 enclosed and Pure Light V2 plug and play with cable. All of them are 600 W electromagnetic ballasts for HPS and MH lamps at 220-240 V.

• What is the difference between the open and the enclosed format?

  In the open format the winding is exposed on a plate: it costs less and dissipates heat better, but it is not plug and play and requires electrical assembly, installing it out of reach in a dry, protected area. In the enclosed format the winding sits inside a housing with the wiring already done, which is safer, tidier and plug and play on most models.

• Can the power be dimmed?

  No: none of the six models is dimmable. If you need to adjust the power between growth and flowering, you will have to look at an electronic ballast with a dimmer.

• Which ones are plug and play?

  The Lux Plus enclosed, the Pure Light V2 enclosed and the Pure Light V2 plug and play version with cable, which also includes a 3x1.5 C-14 cable 1.5 m long. The Fission open and the EMB enclosed class 1 are not, and need assembly.

• Why choose an electromagnetic ballast instead of an electronic one?

  It is the cheapest and most robust option: with no electronics to fail, they last for years. In exchange, none of them is dimmable and they weigh considerably more than an electronic ballast, something to bear in mind depending on how you plan to install it.

• Are the weight and datasheet figures reliable?

  We would rather be upfront: the supplier does not publish a datasheet for the Lux Plus open, whose figures have been inferred from the rest of the range, and the weights given are estimates. If you need an exact figure for your set-up, contact us before buying.
