Terra Aquatica GrowStream 2.0 – Commercial Aero-Hydroponic System Without Substrate for 10 to 80 Plants

The GrowStream 2.0 is Terra Aquatica's production system: a substrate-free aero-hydroponic system in which the plants are held in baskets and the roots grow inside a line through which permanently oxygenated solution circulates.

The difference from a conventional NFT lies in the distribution: GrowStream keeps the water aerated throughout the entire unit, not just at the inlet point. That avoids the classic problem of long lines, where the last plants receive a solution already depleted in oxygen and grow noticeably less than the first ones. Here the first and last plant work under similar conditions.

Because there is no substrate, the cost, storage, and waste management of coco coir or rockwool disappear, and transplanting is reduced to moving the basket. The trade-off is that the system does not forgive supply interruptions: without substrate there is no water reserve, so in large installations it is advisable to provide a UPS or a generator.

Which size to choose

The key factor is the number of plants: 10 to test the system or for a small room, 20 and 40 for medium production, and 60 or 80 for professional installations. All share the same technology and the same way of operating; what changes is the line length, reservoir volume, and pumping flow rate.

Keep in mind that from 20 plants onward the unit takes up several linear meters and needs a level floor and an accessible drain. It is worth measuring the room before deciding on the size.
